During his tour of Malwa. Guru Tegh Bahadur reached village Barna from Kaithal. He inquired of a man outside the village. “Brother. does any Sikh of Guru Nanak live in this village?” He replied. “There is one farmer who is Guru Nanak’s Sikh.” The Guru said to him, “Please go and tell him that your Guru is outside the village and calls ·you.” That man went and brought the farmer to the Guru.
It is said that Guru Nanak ji (the first Guru of the Sikhs) told his disciple to build a plate form. He built it. When Guru Nanak Saw it. He told him to demolish it. He demolished it. Guru Nanak told him to rebuilt it. He rebuilt it. Guru Nanak again told him to demolish it. He did so.
A man went to a Guru desiring instruction. The Guru said, “Thou art That.” “Is that all?” asked the man. He was not satisfied and went to another Guru who understood his condition.
